Interdisciplinary site-specific and landscape performance maker, Jeminah Alli Reidy has developed this project to work with artists and communities along the Yarra River to create art on the banks of the river that responds to the intrinsic qualities of the site. Scenes on the Yarra is series of 7 site -specific performance workshops that end with a guided walk and community celebrated performance.

Guided Walk and Performance

It is my intention that the audience and participants of this project experience an insightful connection to the chosen place along the Yarra River.  This evocative experience will connect the participants and the audience to the precious natural resource, the Yarra River. The storyteller will share stories containing elements of history, indigenous song lines, myths and environmental insight that weave throughout the performance connecting site and the art creations. I hope that through sharing a greater understanding of place, individuals will build a stronger connection and with that a personal responsibility for caring about our Environment and Waterways.

Thanks for visiting this site,

Sustainable Practices

The artists will be encouraged to use sustainable practices in the creation of their works, using eco friendly, natural, recycled and reused materials. Detailed maps will be available from the web page on low impact ways to arrive at each site. Where possible materials and supplies will be brought from local businesses within the area. An important aim of Scenes on the Yarra is to create art and performance with no impact on the natural environment and using materials sustainably.
