Enjoy: A family picnic celebrating our great Yarra River
Meet: Ian Penrose, the Yarra Riverkeeper, and hear some of his fascinating stories about the Yarra, what is now happening to the river and what everyone can do to care for this precious part of Melbourne.
Learn: Embrace your natural wonderland a short walk away, on a circuit walk with naturalist Don. We will make discoveries from volcanoes and gumnuts to water birds. The Yarra is also the source of 80% of Melbourne’s drinking water; learn about the Yarra’s source.
Children’s Activities: Nature Art Play, a free creative activity, create sculptures, nests, cubby houses, magical walking sticks and hanging mobiles in the afternoon with Indigenous Artist – Rachael Shields and Artist Jeminah Reidy. We will also sing some river songs with Rachael.
