I wear the mask of Kookaburra
During ours days on Herring Island
Kookaburra watches us with confident curiosity 
as we wander his territory
I wear them as bone, as life and death
Their laughter echoing throughout my story
and through those of my ancestors
I carry the river
Embodied within us all is the lifeblood of water
We are the shifting tide of ebb and flow
Activating the cycles of life
From season to season
I am the river and the river is me
